A WORTHY NIGERIA

Listing our wrongs should never be termed an attempt at writing off the Nigerian nation, rather it is being used as a mirror. In order to appreciate education, a good romance with the ignorant or uneducated will be fine,to appreciate light, being in the dark will do the magic, it is the very reason for an X-ray, so to speak of those things we ought to get right, which we are yet to.

To begin with, Nigeria has no business with all the negatives surrounding us. Ours is a land of enormous potentials. Human resources or human capital remains the bedrock of development, worldwide. All resources of a nation, every sector of a nation's economy is being run by the people from the public service workers to the private, the elected officials and the appointed too, businessmen, industrialists and several sectoral practitioners, the numerous support personnel deserve a mention as their input can never be swept beneath any rug. A whole lot of responsibility lies with those at the top echelon in several sectors of the state, hence the success or otherwise of most systems rests on the shoulders of top notchers. A common saying puts it this way : " if the head of a fish is rotten the fish is completely not fit for consumption " I strongly feel if we are successful in the process of choosing those right people, gifted with vision of state affairs coupled with common sense, while we check them appropriately, Nigeria will in no distant future stand tall and shoulders too to great nations of the world.

Within our little groupings at our respective locality, CDAS, trade / craft / market associations . Excellence and merit never again should be sacrificed on the altar mediocrity. We should henceforth, tie our expectations to our own actions. As no one engages in negative activities and expect positive consequence. Nigeria of today is suffering the consequence of our collective activities.

From those micro sectors to the major ones, should we be able to achieve a considerable level of success in ensuring that the right people take charge of almost all sectors. Things will begin to work. Then all will feel the impact of how perceived complex situations get simplified by those who have what it takes to run systems. It is not an overnight affair, there will be challenges, hiccups and some setbacks. Having the right people makes a whole lot of difference. A worthy Nigeria of our desire will soon begin to stare at us, a Nigeria we all will be proud of.

As a coin is made up of two sides, Follower ship is as important as leadership for the success of any state. Blind or rubber stamp Follower ship happened to be some of the factors that led us to our present day Nigeria. Quality leadership is a product or result of quality follower ship. Though earlier mentioned, the relevance of a followers who ensures that those who will represent them must be the best, " to lead the rest you must be the very best "

In physics, the power of a machine is of equal importance as it's control device. To bring the best out of our representatives, a regular account of stewardship, intermittent sessions of questioning should always be on the card. Our check mechanism should be improved upon, the dark days of renting of crowd needs to be put behind us. To the people who continually allow public office holders to buy their conscience with a meagre portion of their own money, as those funds are actually the commonwealth of the state.

Needless I dwell unnecessarily on the negatives, lest I am perceived as pessimist. We all know the path to greatness, it is high time we thread same. Nigeria of ours is like a vineyard fully filled with a bountiful harvest, the only challenge is the process of harvesting the fruits and also the appropriation of same amongst the populace.
I still believe in Nigeria, hope you do too?
